Whaler Jr. is the recording solo project of Brendan McHale. After keeping a handheld tape recorder used as a prop in his high school play, McHale started creating home recordings with his acoustic guitar. This production style is apparent on WJ's self-titled release. As technology advanced, the process transitioned from recording only with tape to adding his mobile phone as well.
